iPhone settings

Status: Current iPhone-side checklist. This page covers every iOS toggle that affects whether a lane runs cleanly; pages on the runner install and lane readiness pick up from here. Run through this once per iPhone, in order, before installing the on-device runner. Two of these, Light appearance and StandBy off, are the most common cause of failed sessions in newly-set-up lanes.

1. Developer Mode

Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode → On. The iPhone will prompt to restart. Confirm. After reboot, confirm Developer Mode is enabled again at the second prompt. Required for iOS 17+. Without Developer Mode, the on-device runner cannot be installed. If Developer Mode is missing from Privacy & Security: the option only appears after the iPhone has been connected to a Mac running Xcode (or an Apple-signed equivalent) at least once. Connect to the Mac host, then re-check.

2. Trust the Mac

Plug the iPhone into the Mac host. When iOS shows “Trust This Computer?”, tap Trust and enter the passcode. iOS remembers this trust permanently for the specific Mac. If you replace the Mac, you’ll need to re-trust on each device.

3. Auto-Lock = Never

Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock → Never. If “Never” makes you uncomfortable, the minimum acceptable value is 5 minutes, anything shorter will interrupt longer in-app flows. Why this matters: auto-lock cuts off whatever the iPhone is doing, including an active upload. The session breaks, the video doesn’t publish, and the account is left in an uncertain state.

4. Brightness ≥ 50%

Settings → Display & Brightness: slider at the middle or higher. Why this matters: Warmr recognizes TikTok screen elements visually. Low brightness reduces on-screen contrast and slows recognition, which slows the whole session.

5. Appearance = Light (required)

Settings → Display & Brightness → Appearance → Light. Required. On Dark appearance, TikTok’s pre-publish screen renders almost entirely in near-black, and the on-device runner cannot reliably locate the on-screen targets it needs to tap, uploads simply do not complete. If you prefer Dark elsewhere on your phone, set it specifically to Light on the iPhones used with Warmr. Do not use “Automatic”, it switches at night and breaks scheduled sessions.

6. Disable iCloud Photos

Settings → Photos → iCloud Photos → Off. Keeps the iPhone’s gallery limited to the content you prepared for publishing. Otherwise foreign photos from your iCloud library can sync down and accidentally end up in a post.

7. StandBy = Off (required)

Settings → StandBy → Off. Required. StandBy is the iOS 17+ feature that turns a charging iPhone into a desk clock when it’s lying on its side. It activates after about 30 seconds when the device is charging + horizontal + locked + idle. Once StandBy is active, iOS blocks programmatic app launches. Warmr cannot start TikTok, and the session stalls. Symptoms: the session sits idle for several minutes, then the device shows up as standby (or simply stops progressing) in the dashboard. Alternative (less reliable): always keep the iPhone vertical while charging. StandBy needs the phone lying flat to activate, so a stand that holds it upright works. Portrait Orientation Lock in Control Center does not help: StandBy reads the accelerometer directly. Toggling StandBy off doesn’t affect anything else on the phone.

8. Reduce Motion (optional)

Settings → Accessibility → Motion → Reduce Motion → On. Cuts iOS animations, which makes screen transitions slightly faster across the whole device. Not required, but recommended once the rest of the lane is working.

9. TikTok app

  • Install TikTok from the App Store on the iPhone.
  • Open it at least once, accept the initial prompts, sign in to the first account you intend to use.
  • Language: English. Other languages may work but are not regularly tested.
The runner will not install TikTok for you. If TikTok is missing from the device, posting runs will fail with a “TikTok not installed” error.

Per-iPhone checklist

Before installing the on-device runner, confirm:
  • Developer Mode = On
  • “Trust This Computer” confirmed on the Mac you’ll use
  • Auto-Lock = Never (or ≥ 5 minutes)
  • Brightness ≥ 50%
  • Appearance = Light (not Dark, not Automatic)
  • iCloud Photos = Off
  • StandBy = Off
  • TikTok installed, opened at least once, signed into the first account
  • At least 5 GB free (15 GB+ preferred)
All boxes ticked? Continue to Trust and runner setup to install the on-device runner.
